Just when I was feeling so good about my workouts.....I have been running & moutain biking & on my way to my first 5k when Bronchitis and Strep hit our house.  Okay. Fine. I worked through that & even managed to continue working out while I was sick (most days).  I finally felt good enough a few days ago to run again, so I did a mile & then my right foot started bugging me.  I walked another mile & then rode a few more miles.  I felt fine, just some little aches in my foot.  That night...foot swelling, swelling, swelling...POP! (okay...it didn't pop, but it looked like it could have).

So, I couldn't go to the doctor on Sunday--plus, it was our annual church picnic which involves a ton of fun for the kids, including a fishing derby at the Markovich Farm in Franklin.  Good times...I gimped around there....had fun watching Tim teach the kiddos to fish & watching everyone else eat amazing amounts of food & not even caring about it.  Last year I would have made it back to the dessert table a few times throughout the day.

Yesterday, I went to my PCP.  First, the strep is gone but the Bronchitis has worsened and that requires more antibiotics & it will take a week or two for the cough to be gone.  Second, I develop'd a rash on my arm which (thanks to fishing!) ended up being poison ivy....a little steriod cream & that's under control (by the way, nobody else got poison ivy at the farm...I'm the lucky one!).....then the kicker.....x-ray'd my foot & it is stinkin' broken!!!! What?!?!  Don't you have to drop something on your foot or fall or do something specific to it to break it?

Nope.  Double stress fracture in my fourth metatarsal (aka--I am still too fat to run, I guess....ug!).  Really bad, per the doc.....so, now I am on my way to the ortho to have it casted (all the way up to my knee) for 6 to 8 weeks....oh, whi*****ludes our family trip to Disney World in three weeks.  Ug.  I am actually going to beg, beg, beg the ortho not to cast it & to put me in a boot or something other than a cast....

So, I'm bummed.....my workouts were going so well and now...ug.  I can still do the recumbent bike at my house, but that's about it.

I am worried this will slow down my weight loss.....I finally made it to 221 yesterday & was looking forward to getting in the teens & to ONEderland soon.....my hubby keeps reminding me that I have lost 72 pounds in 12 weeks & I should focus on that, but I am really going to miss working out.

So, there's my pity party......xo, Micheala.

Wow! What a story! This is just a detour in the road but you keep doing your bike at home and make sure you let it heal so you can ge tback into thing when you're better. You've done a great job and are an inspiration to us all! I get tired even reading about your exercise adventures!

Hey I htink you can special treatment at Disney (like not waiting in line) if you are injured. You should check into that! It might just be worth it!

Keep your chin up...

Now that's the way to put a positive spin on things.....jumping in front of the lines at Disney!  Perfect!!!  I will check into that!!

Thanks....I am trying to stay positive.  My foot feels really good today--I still have the walking boot & don't yet have the cast on. Honestly, I've been avoiding the phone calls from the ortho to set the appointment....I just keep hoping it will get better w/out a cast!! I am dreaming, I know....better go answer the phone!

By the way...YOU are doing so great...and you are in ONEDERLAND and are so close to your goal!!! You are my hero!! I can't wait to join you in Onederland! xo, Micheala.

Good luck and be careful! LOL

Well, I don't think it is going to slow you down much, you seem to stubborn for that!!  and I mean that in a good, loving way!!!

I can empathize with you here!  I thought the same thing at first - pulled ligaments.  We were in Gatlinburg last October - I missed a step going downstairs in the cabin where we were staying. I walked or more appropriately ( hobbled) all weekend in a houseshoe.  Went to the Dr. on Tuesday ( got home on Monday) - had surgery on Wednesday.  Boy was I shocked!  A plate and 4 screws later - doing okay.  It still swells every so often if I am on my feet alot or big change in weather. OUCH!  The bone on outer part of my left foot that runs from my little toe back to my ankle - broke completely into.  Dr. said I should have heard it pop, but I didn't .  All I could think of at the moment ..... was PAIN!!! LOLOL    So....... best of luck to you. Been there......done that!

I am hoping to have my lapband surgery done in August if everything goes well and the insurance company doesn't drag their feet on me.  I am soooooo ready!!!!!!!  Just finishing my 6 month consults with PCP the end of this month - then to the insurance company for approval.
Please keep your fingers crossed for me.

OUCH!! That sounds so painful....but I am glad you can relate! Ug...no fun at all.  A plate & 4 screws....eeeeww! And while away from home!

I am going to the ortho tomorrow...I was suppos'd to go this morning, but I am dragging my feet (no pun intended)---really don't want a cast.....

But, the exciting news is that you are on your way to your lapband surgery!! CONGRATS!! You will be a big LOOOSER before you know it!!!  I had to do the 6 months for my surgery, too--no regrets....one of the best decisions I have ever made!!

Good luck....hang out on this board & keep us posted on how things go &, of course, when you get final insurance approval!!!! Fingers, toes, legs...all crossed for you...xo, Micheala.

Thank you so much for the support Micheala.  I will be sure and keep you posted.  Please add me as your friend.  I only have one friend on this site and would love to have more. I can going to need all the support I can get!  The good thing - my family is behind me 100% but it is still good to have friends that have been through it .  You are doing great!  I am trying to be patient - I am just soooo excited and ready to have it done.  I know it is going to be the best thing that I've ever done for myself.  I am looking forward to being able someday to wear smaller clothes and look small in them. LOLOL  I have never been able to do that!

Thanks for your reply and look forward to talking with you again.

Sincerely,
Martha

Martha--I'd love for you to be my new friend...I don't know how to just "add" a friend unless you do a friend request...I will look & see if I can, but just in case, send me a friend request that I can approve ASAP!

You are going to be so happy you had the surgery....it is such a HUGE decision...I remember  being just where you are right now...gosh...and that was only three and one-half months ago!!! You will be freaking out about how great this is in just a few months!!!

I am proud of you for making the decision to have WLS......good job...you are going to do great!!! xo, Micheala.
